The Editorial Checklist
Why your AI drafts sound like AI.
Every generator makes the same mistakes — the same clichéd openers, the same manufactured urgency, the same padding. Versoo Content Ops runs every draft against a fixed checklist that catches all of it, automatically.
The checklist
Twelve rules. Every draft. No configuration.
Here’s exactly what runs before a draft reaches your editor:
- No clichéd openers — never starts with “Here’s the thing,” “In today’s world,” or “Let’s dive in.”
- No fake contrast — cuts the “It’s not X. It’s Y.” pattern before it repeats.
- No repeated sentence starts — won’t open three sentences in a row the same way.
- No manufactured hype — nothing is “revolutionary” or “game-changing.”
- No bullet-point reflex — uses prose where prose says it better.
- No buzzwords — no “leverage,” no “seamless,” no “synergy.”
- No filler words — cuts “very,” “really,” “basically,” and the rest before they ship.
- No exclamation points. Not one.
- Strong verbs only — “is” and “was” get replaced with something that acts.
- Active voice by default — the subject does the thing, no passive hedging.
- Specific over vague — real numbers and named details, not generic claims.
- Simple words — “use,” not “utilize.”

Headlines too
Titles follow real structures, not vibes.
Every generated title uses one of five proven formulas instead of guessing at what sounds catchy.
- How-To — “How to get more email signups without a giveaway”
- Big Benefit + Number — “7 ways to cut your bounce rate”
- Provocative Question — “Do you make these 3 mistakes with subject lines?”
- Quick Win — “Here’s a quick way to fix a leaky signup form”
- What Everyone Should Know — “What every marketer ought to know about open rates”
Specific beats clever. Numbers beat vague promises.

Same prompt. Two drafts.
Raw AI
At the end of the day, content marketing is all about consistency. It’s not about perfection. It’s about showing up!
Versoo
Content marketing rewards the writer who publishes on a schedule, not the one polishing a single post for a month.
Raw AI
Most people think WordPress plugins slow down your site. Actually, that’s simply not true in most cases.
Versoo
Poorly coded plugins slow a site down. Well-coded ones rarely add more than a few milliseconds.
FAQ
Common questions
Isn’t this just a prompt?
A prompt is a suggestion the model can ignore. The checklist is enforced on every single draft, every time — you’re not relying on the AI remembering an instruction from three paragraphs up.
Can I turn any of these rules off?
No. The checklist runs the same way for every draft. That consistency is the point — if some drafts followed it and others didn’t, you’d be back to editing everything by hand.
Does this replace editing?
No. It removes the tells that make a first draft obviously AI-written, so your edit pass goes toward sharpening the ideas, not stripping out clichés.
Stop editing out the obvious AI tells.
